September 2011 - Round 1

Picture

Winner - Tim O'Sullivan

Picture
Tim was born in Papua New Guinea, but he is really from Cork, in Ireland. He has been in Budapest now for about three years working as a Chartered Surveyor. Oddly, he holds a third-degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do - but now struggles to touch his toes.

September 2011 Competitors

Picture
Peter is a California native who has lived in Budapest since 1998.  He initially came to check things out for a year or so, and liked it so much that he's still here.  During the day he manages the Budapest, Bucharest, and Prague offices of ERM, an international environmental consulting firm.  He enjoys flying and making his own wine and palinka. He's a would-be author, having written dozens of short stories and
screenplays, but has never found the motivation to publish any of them.
Picture
A native of Dublin - and still celebrating the All Ireland victory - Brian has lived in Budapest for the past 8 years. Not a regular with public appearances, he is hoping to follow up his stirring rendition of Molly Malone in Jack Doyle's with a winning speech on Wednesday.

Picture
David is originally from the UK's sunshine coast, otherwise known as 'Lancashire'.  A recovering management consultant, David quit the corporate world and the UK in early 2010 for Buenos Aires, somehow ending up in Budapest - a result of his appalling sense of direction, and of course a lady.  He can be frequently sighted in Budapest's cafés hunched over a tiny laptop.  Keep your eyes open.

Picture
David was Joint Head of Interest Rate and Derivative Trading at Allied Irish Banks, and from 1997 Manager, New and Emerging Markets at Intercapital brokers, which won several Risk Magazine Best Broker awards. Since 1999 he has run his own real estate company in Budapest, was CEO of a UK trading company and has taken on several corporate advisory roles. In 2007 he set up Wow Media kft in Hungary and later expanded its operations across Europe with the BabyBlueBanana brand.
David frequently hosts private corporate events and is the host of the Irish Hungarian Business Circle’s 'In Conversation with…' evenings. He is also an entrepreneur-in-residence at the CEU Business School in Budapest
