Round 1 Winner - Gerard Lucey

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in Ireland, Gerard Lucey decided to escape auditing and took up a two-year assignment in Hungary. That was 1996, and he's still here. Gerard is married to Szilvia and they have three Irish-Hungarian sons, so he is kept busy at home when not counting beans at work, or running around being the President of the IHBC. A native of Dublin, Gerard also has a bit of Cork in him – so surely the Blarney effect is there in the blood somewhere.

Round 1 Competitors

Marcus Frakes graduated from the University of Colorado in the United States. He still has fond memories of Denver and occasionally spins tales from his times there. Currently, he lives in Hungary working on start-ups, writing music, or chasing a three-year-old daughter around the house.

Jwana Stevenson....Writer, collector and singer of songs. Never short of a word or two be they spoken or sung. Her combination of Northern Irish and Viking blood make her a strong contender. She promises not to play dirty......unless.......

Harlan Cockburn is a generalist but would have liked to have been a rodeo rider. Born and raised by the sea, he is still a little puzzled to find himself in a landlocked country. An early ambition was to be first man on the moon, but this has now been downscaled to becoming vaguely intelligible in Hungarian.

Steven Nelson  is from the USA but has been based in Hungary on and off for 20 years. He originally trained to be an airplane pilot, but now works as a speech coach, corporate trainer, and translator. He is delighted to return to the Gift of the Gab stage for the second time and have a captive audience listen to his rantings and ravings on various topics.
